Emily Scott is a science writer for the Carl R. Woese Institute for Genomic Biology. She is passionate about telling the stories of the people and processes behind science. She is experienced in translating complex scientific research into stories that are easily understandable and engaging.
She has previously reported for The Daily Illini, Technograph, Chicago Inno, and the News Progress. She has covered science and engineering topics ranging from agtech and urban agriculture to startups and robotics.
Emily is a graduate of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where she studied news-editorial journalism and agricultural communications. She is currently pursuing a master’s degree in journalism at Illinois.
