Emily Scott is a science writer for the Carl R. Woese Institute for Genomic Biology, where she reports on research in genomics, health care, technology, and the environment.


She is an alumna of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where she studied journalism and agricultural communications. She is currently pursuing a master’s degree in journalism at Illinois.

She has previously reported for The Daily IlliniTechnograph, Chicago Inno, and the News Progress. She has covered a variety of topics, including genomics, agtech, robotics, urban agriculture, and renewable energy.

Emily is passionate about telling the stories of the people and processes behind science.
